I want my Fisherman’s Friend in Bali!

Posted by jessbabe on Sunday Feb 22, 2009 Under Health, Travel

It’s no fun traveling into a paradise and getting sick at the same time. Dry cough and itchy throat. Phlegm, please don’t make it here.

Cough syrup over here is ridiculously expensive. Pharmacy sells at 260,000 IDR, about MYR60 for a bottle of cough syrup. Screw the syrups, lozenges rules.

The hotel is fantastic. All Seasons Legian Bali located in Jalan Padma Utara, embeds the qualities of a 4 star hotel with a 5 star service, charges about 54 AUD/night/room without breakfast, the only disappointment – location, it’s about 10 mins taxi ride to Legian Street in Kuta. Costing about 30,000 IDRĀ  each time.

Free WIFI in the lobby. Internet in the room charges 200,000 IDR for 24 hours credit.

Awesome pool :) with great bar plus serves delicious light snacks, in my case, PASTA

My travel mate, James Carr.

Till then..

Have a great Sunday evening and MONDAY blues. We’ll be heading to WaterBom tomorrow!

Happy Birthday, Matthew YEO

Posted by jessbabe on Tuesday Feb 17, 2009 Under Birthday

The initial plan was to have a small lunch of 5 to celebrate his 21st birthday at Manhattan Fish Market…

Ended up, 10 good friends showed up for his birthday lunch in Amuleto.

Belle pinching me + I screamed + Charissa got her cheesy fries + Fafa tied a knot with the cherry stick with her tongue + Angel finished the entire lunch course + seeing Michelle after so long time + laughing at Vernon’s very blonde lala hair + Ariff settled the entire bill = Matthew’s 21st Birthday

Plus, Matt got free birthday dessert from Amuleto :)

I love you, bestie.

I cannot believe it’s your 21st already. Time flies really quick, your 16th birthday pool party seemed like a month ago. From high school to pre-U to university year 2 now, darn.. it’s been some time.

Now that you can gamble legally, please jaga your money a bit.

If you have too much money and don’t know where and how to spend them, think of me.
If you lost your bets, don’t fret. I’m here, I can buy you beers.

You are one old boy already.

And p.s. Please lose your fats! Go back to gym!

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Posted by jessbabe on Friday Feb 13, 2009 Under Travel
Dear God,
It’s been a month since I’ve got back. My six days in Siem Reap was an eye-opener. Now, who wants to sponsor me to Kenya now for 3 weeks volunteer work?

My holiday began when I left KL at 7am on the 15th of January to Siem Reap, Cambodia by Air Asia :)

It is one of the magnificent site to be in your ‘MUST VISIT’ list.

Let me tell you why???

1. Amazing sunset at Tonle Sap lake also known as the floating village.

Presenting Justine Ho, the most fickle minded woman I’ve ever bumped into so far.

My cousin brother, Gary Cheah yang last minute tempted me here.

2.Visits at the magnificent Angkor temples.

We paid USD 40 for a three-days pass.

3. Salivating delicious yummy food from food stalls, hotel, restaurants and cafes in Siem Reap.

Price varies from USD 1-5.

AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, I HEART AND NEEDĀ  RICE!

4. Insanely cheap full body massage for USD 3 per person/hour.

Make sure you request for the experienced ones!

5. Everybody loves cheap BOOZE that runs happy hour all day long!

USD 0.50 per draft Angkor Beer.
USD 1.25 per glass of red wine.
USD 2.50 per glass of cocktail.
USD 1 per shot of killer tequila!

No wonder we were out boozing every night at the infamous PUB STREET!

6. Little children running after you to buy souvenirs from them.

I think they took up Persuasion 101, I spent at least USD 50 on souvenirs only. Either that, or I’m a sucker for kids. I was so broke, I ended up giving them mints instead to see a smile carved in their innocent faces :)

I’m missing this place. I’ll definitely be back :)

The camera memory card went doomed on me on the third day! So, most of them are taken by my travel buddies.
